Galileu Kim is a Ph.D. candidate in the Politics Department. His research explores the political determinants of local state capacity and the strategic use of public sector jobs as a bargaining tool for coalition formation. The current iteration of this research project combines qualitative and quantitative evidence from municipalities in Brazil, analyzing the political interaction between executive and legislative institutions, and their effect on the quality of bureaucratic personnel. Prior to coming to Princeton University, he conducted research on local municipalities in Peru. Galileu holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
